Nigeria Secures Landmark Deal with Chinese Firm to Pioneer Local Manufacturing of CNG and EV Infrastructure

Nigerian Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas (Pi-CNG) and Electric Vehicles proudly announces a transformative Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with China’s premier infrastructure and IoT solutions provider, You Jie Te Environment Technology Ltd (YJT).

This strategic partnership, forged during a high-level delegation visit led by Pi-CNG Executive Chairman Barrister Ismaeel Ahmed to YJT’s facilities in Chengdu and Hangzhou, will localise the production and assembly of critical infrastructure—including CNG dispensers, refuelling stations, and EV charging facilities—in Nigeria.

Key highlights include:

– Integration of advanced IoT smart monitoring technologies with Pi-CNG’s National Gas Vehicle Monitoring System (NGVMS) for real-time oversight of equipment performance, safety, compliance, and economic data nationwide.

– Exploration of investments in local assembly and full-scale manufacturing of CNG conversion kits to meet surging demand and boost domestic participation in the gas-to-transport value chain.

This collaboration advances Nigeria’s energy transition by reducing import reliance, creating jobs, transferring cutting-edge skills, and enhancing reliability across the clean transport ecosystem. It delivers more affordable, cleaner mobility options while driving economic growth, transparency, and sustainability for commuters, operators, and the nation.

Pi-CNG reaffirms its commitment to building a resilient, inclusive, and low-carbon transport future for Africa’s most populous nation.
